Shirobasti
Shiro means head and Basti means container that holding liquids.
Shirobasti means warm herbal oil holding oil on the head for a specific period of time with use of cap fitted on the head in such a way that oil does not leak out.
Description
​
The outer area of head is covered by a leather cap keeping hollow inside. Warm herbal oil is put into the hollow for a certain period in such a way that oil should not be leaked out. It is followed by Shiro abhyanga (head massage). Course of Shirobasti treatment varies as per requirement. But generally, 1 week to 4 weeks are sufficient depending on conditions and complications of ailment.

HRUD BASTI – NURTURING HEART TREATMENT
Hrud Basti in Sanskrit refers to Hridhay, the heart and Basti, the container or retainer.
Description
​
A dough container is placed over the heart area & the medicated warm herbal oil preparation or freshly prepared herbal decoction or medicated ghee is poured over the heart region for about 30 minutes – 1 Hour. At the end of the procedure a gentle massage is done on the heart region.

Janu Basti
The term Janu Basti is derived from- Janu- which means Knee joint and Basti which means to hold.

Knee joint is one of major weight bearing joints where wear and tear is very common.

The most common ailment is dryness of the knee joint.
Description
Janu- which means Knee joint, & Basti is the compartment used for holding. This compartment in the form of a pool is made from flour of black gram. The warm herbal medicated oil is poured on the flour pool placed on the knee for about 30 to 45 minutes. The legs are massaged before doing the Janu Basti and after that steam is given.

The oil is kept for 30-40 minutes.

An enclosed wall is made from black gram flour and herbal powders is placed across the nape (back of the neck). Warm medicated oil is placed up on the neck inside the herbal paste boundary. Temperature is maintained uniform throughout the procedure This process is carried out for 30 minutes.
